So Im in Diego Garcia aka B.I.O.T, British indian ocean territory.
They have 2 boston whaler outrage for rent. Appear to be in the 20' range, dunno if that is correct, they also appear to have the accutrack II hull, an mercury motors based on the 1996+ cowling appearances, I havent ogtten up close an personal to these boats yet, but I called the marina,
13 dollars an hour max 4 people, includes the gas. Great military rate.
They also have an older outrage, the desert tan color, seems to be the "rescue boat"
And they have a 29 conquest that can be chartered for half day 240 dollar for 5 people, includes everything, just bring sun screen.
I have been on that (wahoo, yellow fin, barracuda, an small bonita were all caught)
the price last time i was on the BW conquest was only 150/ half day for 5 people includes everything, but holiday time they raise the price.
They don't choose BW because they just think its a good brand, safety of personell is important as these are rough waters everyday. Rollers in the 15 ft range when they hit the drop off, which goes from 30 to 1,000 feet over 20 ft (instant drop off) when the waves hit the shelf they rise an it gets nasty, but theres a long period between these bad boys,
photos if i get my cell phone charged over here.
happy boating during the holiday season

I've spent two week in Diego Garcia once....back in 2000. Very cool place....found an old PBY Catalina near the plantation house. The coconut crabs are HUGE!!!
You must be either a merchant marine or a navy guy....

I kno the rollers are dangerous.
I don kno what the article sayz, but the motors shutdown an would not start. Any boat of that size will not make it, if not underway in seas like that.
Im not a merchant marine, so...
Caught 15 bone fish so far, couple permit, an some trigger fish all off the beach behind the officers club.
Brought an ugly stick an a penn 550 spooled with 20lb braid.

I've been a fan of the Ugly Stick rod since 1981...... in my opinion, not a better rod around.

I too like ugly stick, especially for the price, i have some from when i was 8 years old, im 26 now, also had the same penn.reals,.think its a 7z series, the 550 are old too.
But my brother bought me a star rod stellar light, medium action, i paired it with a 650 an 40lb braid. My favortie combo, big reds, small trout, schoolie dolphin, king fish. Its a 7ft.
