I have a vintage 1980 evinrude 2hp outboard that I want transom mount as a kicker and shallow water propulsion, but the transom is a little thicker than the motor mount. Any thoughts on a mounting bracket assembley for my 1996 Montauk 17?

Look into an auxiliary motor mount for a 15 sport

See Harvey's personal page here:

However, I would suggest a different kicker with a 20 inch long shaft motor so you can mount it directly on the transom like Whaler recommends and 6hp or 8hp would be much better.

Thanks. My little 2hp only weighs about 20 lbs and it will get me back to the dock or thru the inlet, in case. I think I can make a wood and fiberglass slip on for the transom that will work and stow, sufficiently. That way, I will not have that extra mount st.icking out.

With that 2hp kicker You might make headway if your running with the tide and with the wind, but if its the other way around forget about it, A 3hp barely pushed my 13 footer.
