Hi, Since buying my 1982 Montauk, I've rebuilt the '99 Johnson 60, rewired the whole boat, replaced steering, installed downrigger, trolling motor, 2nd battery.... seems to be a never ending project, but fun!
I recently bought nickle plating chems hoping I could replate all the rail stanchions that are green and brown! It looks like I'll either need to send them somewhere for replating or buy new ones.
I'd appreciate any link or info on where to buy replacements or to send mine for re plating.

jtaylor5,
Try these guys for replacement railing parts:
CMI Marine Products - Railings and Fittings
55 Woodrock Road
Weymouth, MA 02181
(781) 740-1260
(781) 337-0733
Maybe some of the others will chime in on re-chrome companies.

Check this post for re-chroming info:

My previous post for CMI - the info was found
HERE - WebLess Suppliers
There is a search page also to help locate information in various parts of the site it is accessed via the "Search" link in the left hand navigation on each page.
It never hurts to start a new discussion - new info usually pops up. I just wanted to point out some of the features and pages we have available.
Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

Thanks, I've emailed a couple online rechroming shops with pictures, for an estimate. that may be the way to go so I can keep it OEM too. Otherwise I'll call CMI and see if they have what I need.
BTW Right now my bottom paint is plastered with some boat safe paint stripper from Home Depot, I'll let you know how that worked. I think I had posted about that at one time, but not sure.
Can anyone recommend a good product to shine the gelcoat? It was quite oxidized and powdery, I used 3M restorer then some 600 mesh sand paper, it's now smooth and clean, but not glossy yet. How is "Gel Gloss" I saw some at the hardware store, but not sure if it's a wax or what?? Armorall shines it, but too slippery!

just bought rail end stanchion for the montauk CC rail from CMI for $16 or $22 with shipping.
that may be the way to go so I can keep it OEM too.
jt - from what i understand CMI made the railings for BW - therefore they would be OEM.
