We just took this on trade and can not find any info on the boat, model etc. The hull number is 3608? I have he ri title in hand but no model?

That is not a Boston Whaler actually, but possibly a Yankee Voyager made by Boston Whaler.

I was told its a 22 highliner? If you google it the same boat comes up. How did this guy register that boat as a 1978 boston whaler?

The only listing Boston Whaler has for this boat that I know of is in their 1975 flyer for the Yankee Voyager.

How would anyone actually know the exact year?

In late 1972, HIN numbers were assigned to boats.
Is this one missing the HIN tag?

Many times the state registration is NOT correct on what year the model is.
Here is an example of HIN numbers either on a metal tag or embossed in the transom.

I have the RI title in hand..titled and registered as a 1978 Boston Whaler hull number 3608.

We are in process of starting the engine and checking out entire boat. It is super clean boat inside and out. Looks like fresh water use only, no corrosion at all, has nice bimini top enclosure.

Boat is for sale if anyone is intereted. Have you seen any for sale anywhere?

Any idea of its value?
