2006 mercury 25HP 4 stroke
Mercury throttle & shift cables, single control

Having trouble installing the control cables to the motor, especially the shifter; can't seem to adjust so reverse engages correctly, forward and neutral seem to be OK although when I turn the prop in forward I can't turn it counterclockwise, which the directions said should happen, but it clicks going clockwise. Sometimes I can't get it in reverse and when I do it locks so the prop will not turn in either direction. I have been going by the installation instructions downloaded from the Mercury web site but am getting nowhere.
Anybody know where I can get better step by step instructions or have experience with this?
