Hi, my name is Gerard, living in the Netherlands, looking for a 1989, 22' Revenge, at this moment for sale. Reading a lot and finding on the forum a lot of useful information (great website), but is there anything special I have to inspect or look for?

Gerard, if this is your first boat, I would recommend having an experienced friend look the boat over for you. A formal survey costs about $200-300US, and can be money well spent. I would be sure to get to see the hull out of water, and a sea trial to check all the systems.

I'm not familiar with the '89 revenge22, so others will have to post any specific things to check on that model.

The 1989 Revenge 22 Walk Through is a great boat. I can tell from the photo that serious water intrusion is not a problem, but be sure to inspect the through hull drain tubes and replace them if that has not been done recently.

The motor will be the biggest question mark. It is nice power if it runs well, but have a mechanic do a buyers inspection on it.

The other potential liability is the aluminum fuel tank. If it is original and water has been allowed to sit in the fuel tank cavity, there can be corrosion problems with it. Inspect all the fuel lines carefully and the bilge areas in general for signs of fuel leakage.

thanks for the quick reply, have a freind who can check out the engine including compression check, the good part is that he has a whaler fore more then 10 years. But your advise will also help. It is my first boat and i want it to be a Boston Whaler. A long time wish. :D And as you said, not this one there will be another.
Find a lot of information on this site, must say: Great website, great input on mutual interest. have lots of fun reading and wanting a whaler increase with it.

I own a 1986 22' Revenge WT...you can see my boat on my personal page. I have a 200 hp Yamaha on it with about 300 hours...this boat is fantastic...the design is great...it is economical to run, and it is very easy to maintain. Good luck finding yours. Paul Guglielmino.

And by looking at his last post above, this thread has really been dead since the last date shown which was 6/19/07.
So this thread has been dead for 2 1/2 years....

No reason to really bring up a dead horse....
