So, I am about 30 miles from home and come upon a yard sale. They had a couple boats in the yard and I just had to stop.
The gal is a very sweet Lady with a very British accent.
Absolutely no fishing or boating deals to be had but I did find a brand new rotating table fan in the box and never opened for $3.00.
Always looking for a good deal I scooped it up for $2.00. Figured it would be a cool breeze while on the forum in these 90+ temps we are experiencing right now.
I never did notice that little sticker on the box that said "UK".
I get home, drop the plug wire behind my PC desk and go to plug it in.
never gonna happen! Weirdest plug I ever saw and the label says 240/250 V @ 13 amps.
That sweet old British gal duped me for $2.00 and I am not sure who is getting the better laugh.

They make international plug connectors.

Not sure if they would work for you or not.

The plug connectors will probably run you about $20 though.
There goes the good deal.

Yeah Joe, never having been in the UK I never thought to even look at the plug. Oh well, cheap lesson learned and it was worth the laugh I got from it.

It sure does seem odd though that the UK has such small appliances running on so much juice. Most of us have been shocked by our standard 120 volt current and it is no fun. I have had the displeasure of a good zapping from 240 volts while messing with my air compressor and it downright hurts.

240 actually loses less power from line resistance than 110

You are also more likely to be knocked loose from the higher voltage than from 120.
