My original 70HP Yamaha died at the lake over the weekend (hole in the #2 cylinder head). Looks like its time for a re-power.
I'm leaning heavily towards the Yamaha F70LA...
Anyone have any tips/tricks or other suggestions? I have already talked props with Tom...

I moved this thread from "General" to "Engines" forum for you.
The F70 is a good choice at 257 pounds.

Where do you get the "LA" from?
Yamaha does not show anything like that on their website.
All they show is the "F70".

Joe, the LA is just a sub model of the F70, I found it on boats.net

I'm happy with my F70LA, and I have a Stiletto Advantage 13.25x15 on it which is perfect. I get between 9 and 10 MPG at cruise depending on conditions and load. I have an install thread a few years back.
The only thing I might do differently if I were to do it over again would be to skip the separate tach and just use the connection to the GPS for motor data.

F=Four Stroke

L=20" Shaft

Given the heartache over hull year around here, I thought I needed to be specific.
