I have replaced my fuel tank beneath my RPS, guess why? The former tank was surrounded by mohougany fastened to the deck with s.s. screws. As is the case with the rest of the wood on the boat I wam looking for a better way to mount the wood that mayassist in removal for refinishing etc. One thought weas to bed well nuts in the deck with west or marine tex and then swith to a machine thread which would allow for easy removal. Any help, ideas would be great.

What is often done is the holes are plugged with thickened epoxy or a wood dowel covered in epoxy. The overdrill the hole larger than the screw, but not as deep. Fill this hole with thickened epoxy but put some paste wax on the screw before inserting it. The reason you don't drill the whole length is so that the screw has something to bite to and pull firm until the epoxy sets. Waxing the screw makes it removable. This is the procedure that West System outlines in their literature.
But your idea is a good one... even more solid and removable. Let us know how you do with it. Try to take pictures and post!

Yes I'm familiar with the method you outlined. I'm loolking for the hardware system that allows you to remove some word for refinishing etc and reattach with virtually no epoxy work needed. I think I will try the well nut concept on a peice I need to modify for the new tank anyway and see how it works out.
