Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: waterproof wood glue for swim platform project

Going to build a 48" swim platform in the standard slatted style, but out of ipe wood instead of teak. I plan to scrub the wood where it will be glued, because ipe is oily, like teak. Any recommendations as to what glue to use? I know there have been amazing advances in glue technology.

I'd also like to do without threaded rods, saving the trouble, the expense, and the weight. Your advice is requested!

Gorilla Glue is the best way to go. Super strong and waterproof and will work well with both of those woods.

Gorilla Glue is great however use it sparingly. It comes out as a liquid and expands as a foam as it drys.

That was my first thought... big fan of Gorilla Glue already, and yes, it must be used sparingly. Think it would hold without threaded rods?
