Hi guys, quick question. The binnacle throttle on my console tends to creep back, causing the motor to slow. Engine is a 150. I took the binnacle cover off looking for a tension adjustment screw to tighten, but did not see it. Am I missing it, is it under the bottom and I need to crawl under the console to reach it?

I also have the same problem as I constantly have to keep pushing on the throttle. 2004 Merc 90 hp.

any suggestions???

What brand/model of Binnacle controls do you have on what Whaler with the 150hp motor?

If you have a Mercury engine control that looks like this:

there is both a separate throttle and shift FRICTION adjustment screw under the cover.

If this does not correct the problem, your problem is probably at the engine end of the cable. With the engine in neutral, a piece of paper inserted between the throttle stop and the engine should pull out with a little friction, but not enough to tear the paper. By twisting the threaded barrel, adjust cable length for proper setting.

If none of this works, the engine throttle linkage may need work by a mechanic.
