I recently rented a dry slip in a saltwater marina. My question is to flush or not flush the engine. It is hard to flush the engine with the boat still in the water. It doesnt look like anyone is flushing their engines. I am just wondering what everyone feels about not flushing before the boat goes back in the rack. I have a 1985 90 hp 2 stroke Yamaha engine. Thanks for the feedback.

I would flush it every time. It is always best to eliminate as much salt water as possible from inside the motor.

I flush mine 3, maybe 4 times a year. In the spring when i start the engine, in the fall and maybe once or twice during the summer if i pull the boat to add gas. In the fall, I flush with salt-away and plenty of water. Probably more important than flushing is a fresh water rinse to wash away the salt spray, especially on the engine.

Using the engine in salt water is a flush must after each use, I also coat the inside of the engine with a protectant before each trip in salt water. Anyone that tells you different is a fool...I also rinse the trailer and springs the same, need to get the salt off it is a corrosive...Take care
