Hello All,

I frequent this message board for information quite a bit and decided I should start contributing and adding to the wealth of knowledge here.

I am not new to Whalers. I've had a few over the years. I've had a Whaler ever since I got my boater's license at age 12. I've lived on the Chesapeake Bay my entire life and spent countless hours on the water.

My previous Whalers:

1986 13 Sport/1986 Mercury 35 - No pics of this one. It was before camera phones were really a 'thing.'

1997 15 Dauntless/2000 Yamaha 70

My current Whaler:

My Dad is also a Whaler fan, but he doesn't have an account here. If he did he probably wouldn't post much anyway.

He had a 22 Revenge for a while, but he's been the proud owner of a 1991 25 Walkaround for the past 20 years or so. He re-powered it in 2005 with twin Yamaha 200 HPDI's.

Thanks for looking! :)

Thanks all! Forgive the filthy bottoms in some of the pics. That was pre paint before this season.

Both boats are in the water and running awesome!

It's also Rockfish season and the fishing hasn't been bad so far!

Well after a quick Perchin' trip the Bay decided to rear her ugly head this past weekend. It went from a bit choppy to downright rude. I had 6 people including me on board. When we left home about an hour and a half before wind was 5-10 and waves were about 1 foot. On the return trip we could only make about 6/8 knots in the head on conditions. Waves were 4-6 feet and wind was nearly 20 knots.

I decided to seek safe harbor (about 5 miles from home port) and arrange for the trailer to pick me up. This was some of the roughest water I've seen in a while on the Chesapeake.

No complaints about the boat. I couldn't have asked for anything better. She returned captain and crew to port safely (even though it wasn't home).

Moral of the story: Swallow your maritime pride and take the safe route. I've seen too many 'accidents' happen. I'm not about to risk life and limb when I know there is a safer option.

Here is what the bay looked like just a short time before we headed home!

As you can see it was mighty calm...

Here are a few pics of my trip last week. I kept my boat on the Severn River all last week. Even the roughest day on the river is a calm day on the Chesapeake!
