So in the fall my boat started making funny noises and wouldn't t work in reverse...I tried to figure out what it was but couldn't so I brought it in to a guy who works on antique boats as no one wanted to touch it...had been running perfectly well until now...he said the shift rod was rotted and that it was in saltwater for sure. Previous owner swore it never was in saltwater....to remove the broken shift rod the powerhead which is on top of the rod has to come out and he says it is stuck to the mid section salted on somehow. he said he tried to pry and lifting the powerhead and the boat actually starts to come off of the trailer ....thoughts?? Ideas ??? Thank you!

Go to shiftshaft.com
It's a two piece shaft that can be installed without removing power head. Takes about 45 mins. I did it myself on my 150 yamaha and it worked awesome. And will save you a ton of $
Good luck.
