Hi folks.

I have a 2007 Montauk 150 and would like to know what is the best way to mount a 9hp kicker.

Thanks!

I like to know too for my 2008. There doesn't seem to be enough room to put it next to the 60HP Merc. so do you need to put a bracket on?

The Montauk 150 is similar to the Montauk 170 and other newer models with a notched transom.

See this members solid bracket he installed on his Montauk 170.

I have one made by Garelic marine products. I swings the engine vertically up and out of the water when not in use.

Bill,

How's that working out for you?

I couldn't stand mine and my friend can't stand his either.
It bounces, busts knuckles, and in general very difficult to use even on smooth water.

If I would have kept the boat, I would have changed out that adjustable kicker mount for a solid one like shown in my other link above.

Hi guys
It's my boat that Joe references. I have the fixed auxiliary mount. I use it for a 3.5 hp Merc. I use it to take me into very skinny water and it works great. I don't use it for a kicker because I use my main motor(90 2 cycle) for trolling.
I debated between a fixed and adjustable mount and the fixed works well for me. I only put the small motor on when I'm going shallow. If I'm going offshore I leave it at the marina. My main motor will troll at 4-5 mph so I really don't need a kicker.

I have the same Garelic solid mount with a 9.9 mercury 2 stroke moumted on my 1999 Alert 17with a 7x7 inch 1/8 inch thick aluminum plate on the inside of the transom and it has worked fine. I trailer my boat and usually fish in 1 to 4 foot seas in Lake Erie. Hope this helps. Al
