Less than two years ago I had never owned a Boston Whaler. As of last Thursday (4/25) I now own 3!! You folks warned that this was contagious - and you were right. I started with a 13 hull and trailer. I soon realized that I really like the 15 - and bought one from fellow forum member Rick Davis. I've had that just a year and have loved it. It's a 1989 with 50 HP Johnson (that took a bunch of my time to iron out - but now flawless). But this last week I saw another 15' with a 45 HP Mercury and Loadrite trailer. This one is a supersport - and the condition of the hull was amazing - virtually no spider cracking. It has no bottom paint, was never moored and always stored on the trailer. When not in use, it was covered - and during the winter it was stored in a garage.
The engine was toast according to the PO. It had caught on fire. My inspection showed that two wires had shorted and their insulation had started melting - otherwise it is in mint condition with lots of good compression. I'll be bringing it back to life as part of this project. The only real work besides the engine is the woodwork as it's showing its 25 years. But, having just redone my 13' wood - I now know how poor wood can come back to life - so this one should really come back nicely. I could pass up the boat as the price was really low.
Finally, the rebuild of a Yamaha F60 fourstroke outboard will finish soon as my final parts arrive this week. That will go on the latest boat. I've got my nearly fully restored 13' out on Craigslist - so I'll be pruning back down. Having lots of fun.

Sounds great. I just gone from a 17 outrage to a 13 sport. Doesn't need much work, just to be cleaned, polish and waxed. Post pics soon.
