It sure looks like the boat parked behind 67 Franklin Street in Watertown MA where the Boston Marathon bomber was apprehended was a whaler.

Could anyone confirm?

No -according to press reports it was 22-24' Seahawk Cuddy cabin. Supposedly they guy took immaculate care of the boat. Custom paint and wood work.

No, it's not a Whaler and it's definitely not a Chris-Craft Sea Hawk either.

Definitely a northern brand, we don't see many keel drive inboard "trailer boats" down here in the south, Shamrock is the closest I've seen.

It is a Performer 24, which were built in Richmond, VA in the 1980s and early 1990s.

I reckon it would have a hell of a lot of holes in it - entry and exit

If it was a Whaler the bullet holes wouldn't matter! She would still float. That's why Whaler sells to the US border patrol. Boston Whaler is a good symbol for a resilient city. I think BW should give the owner a new Conquest!

Well that is what the owner said it was.

Is that what the owner said, or is that what was reported in the paper?

I have yet to see the boat owner quoted anywhere. Could you provide a link to an article I missed?

It was in article on line and talked about the boat and the damages and the work the owner put into the boat. There were several quotes from the owner and that was one of them. I will see if I can find the article and post a link when I get a chance I have meetings most of the day.

Here is one article that says the boat was a 22 foot Seahawk. The boat's owner, David Henneberry, is not directly quoted as saying that, though the boat's name is given as the Slip Away.
