has anyone used scuppers on their boat to keep out the water at the transome? Should I be using scuppers? for these extra two holes that service no purpose?
Thanks,

key-z,
Refresh our memory... What Whaler do you have?
Most Whalers have drain(s) in the splashwell so the water runs out if the boat takes a wave over the back.
I realize scuppers will let water out, but I don't understand why you would want to plug this area.
It is a wet area no matter how you look at it using Scuppers or just drains.

I have a 18' outrage with three holes in the back. One is a takes a drain plug but the other two just allow water to come into the boat. I thought if I added a pair of scuppers (a plastic see through devise that has a loose tennis ball inside of it, which stops water from coming in and will allow water to come out.) to the holes, it would keep the area preety much dry.

does the scupper ever get clogged? I have a 1988 20ft Outrage and I have the problem with water coming in over the transom, since my bait tank is mounted back there. Any ideas on creating a splash guard?

I haven't installed the scupper yet, so I don't know if they clog. I wouldn't think they would. Just as soon as I can figure out how to down load a picture. I'll post to site.
No idea about a splash guard. Maybe if you post a new tread someone might give you good answer. Wish I could, sorry!

Key-s,
The 3 drains thru the transom should NOT have any drain plugs in them.
These 3 holes are to let water out if you take a wave over the boat....
Yes, they will let a little water in when not under way, but not much...
Here is a photo of my Outrage 18 showing all 3 holes. 1 center of the transom and the other 2 outside of center.

OIC! I've been plugging up the center hole. The boat does fill with water and empties when underway. I just felt it was filling up a little too much, especially when I launch
