I have an opportunity to purchase 1991 Outrage 17' wich is already in FRANCE. Does anybody knows of anything special I should be looking for when checking her out?
YAMAHA 150 V6 from 1996. the sales man wants $20000.
i didn't see it yet, only photos the sales man just sent me.

so, now you have seen photos. What are you really thinking about quality of that boat ?
On photos 20011 and 20012 you can see there are 3 screws and nuts from each side of motor on the "back of hull" (there are little rust around them)
what is meaning ? the motor is too heavy (400lbs )?:(
on the same photos, we can also see, there is wood between motor and hull ; (fix out of wood tilted) do you know why it is like that ? are there reasons ?
why it is in wood? :o
many thanks for your answers.;)
best regards

breizh,
Here are some photos of the same model boat you are looking at:
http://www.whalercentral.com/userphot...album_id=3
The specifications state 120 HP max... I have no idea how insurance is in France but you might check with your insurance agent if you plan to insure the boat.
We also have a list of 17' Outrage I owners that might interest you.

The wood wedge between the hull and the motor is called a transom wedge. This makes the motor tilt in more at the bottom and helps keep the bow from rising high. This may be due to the oversize of the engine.
Good Luck and let us know what else you find out.

thanks a lot for all, i believe
The wood wedge between the hull and the motor is called a transom wedge
" was not an original part. So Boston whaler put a wood transom wedge ?? it would be not better if it was in stainless steel. i was afraid for nothing , so if it is correct, go on ....:D
