The author of the book is a member on WC and his screen name is: OIA
Also do a search on Whaler Central for "Only In America" and several posts will pop up which are very helpful.
Paulsv, that's the correct site.

Just purchased the book from the website site a couple of weeks ago. I was not sure what to expect when I ordered it but I could not put it down once I started reading. Great stories and almost 400 pages long. Only disappointment is that I was hoping I could give it to my 12 year old daugher to read but a few stories are a little inappropriate for her.
It has inspired me to plan a 400 mile circumnavigation of Delmarva this summer on my 17' Montauk.
It is a must read.

Hey All, Mirassou here. If you order the book make sure you let me know who to sign it to. Thanks everyone for the recommendations.
We cut a Pilot from the 300 hours of footage we gathered during our 1,400 mile voyage from Norfolk to Boston in the 190-Montauk. It's a huge file. Trying to figure out a way to get a link to it on WC, and have the link stay active long enough for those interested enough to download.
Thanks again for the orders and the nice comments.
John
PS. If it arrives on time it's because I did all I could to get it there. If it's late . . . must be Bertsch's fault. :)

PS, if anyone is visiting Southern California, look me up. Whale watching season going nuts. Was in The Whaler out of Newport Beach about a week ago and saw two Gray Whales, a Finback Whale, a large pod of white sided dolphin, and two bottlenose dolphin. Not to mention a whole bunch of beautiful flat, calm Pacific Ocean.

I think Steve The Mail Guy, at the very least, deserves a Whaler ride. :)

I remember when Mirassou made his 6000 mile voyage, ostensibly to "prove that the Eastern half of the U.S. was really an island." It was featured in the Whaler Magazine at the tiime.
I was SO envious!!! But with a child and a career, there was no way I could take the time to take on such an adventure.
John will forever be part of the wonderful Whaler legend.

Book Review - Only in America
Mirassou is not only a great navigator but an incredibly talented writer. This will be a first in my life EVER to read and reread a book. Its that good. OIA should be standard equipment with every Whaler that is shipped from the factory.
Inspiring, romantic, sporting, dramatic..it just keeps going.. It will make you want to begin trip planning to go around the world in a Boston Whaler..Its that powerful .Its the real deal for every boater.
Its a classic in the sense that it delivers pure patriotism, in a time when we as a great nation need it most.
All I can say is Bravo ! 5 STARS..to Mirassou and the CREW of the SUNSHINE !!
Congratulations John,
Looking forward to meeting you sometime,
Bob
