Last year I purchased a 13 foot Whaler that came with a 30 hp Johnson outboard. The hull needed work which has been completed. Soon I will reinstall the outboard and today I purchased from West Marine a Seloc repair manual. When going through the book it stated that most engines in the 2 - 35 hp range use a 100:1 fuel mix is that correct ? Seems pretty lean to me. My engine is a model # J30ECUB so it is a 1987 model year. So the question on the table is: what is the correct fuel ratio for this engine ? Thanks

I believed they changed that later and reverted back to 50:1
My 1988 8hp has a sticker on it that says 100:1
That was too lean so again, they changed it back to 50:1

Joe is correct. 50:1, even for those motors that were originally rated for 100:1

50:1 is the ratio I was expecting. Thanks for the replies.
