please parden me if my spelling is bad if this site has spell check I cant find it 57 and can't spell o' well . My question is this I want my guy at the dealer to mount the 2012 brand new Etec 90hp in a proper faschin . There has been so much imformation on this in the forum that I am a bit overwhelmed and it is hard for me to sort out . I would be so gratefull if someone with a older montauk 17 that has repowered with a Etec 90 in 2011 or 2012 could tell me in plain english from the top 2 empty holes bolt in # 3 down or what and why based on personal experence. Or maby it's all about the cavatachon plate and where it is in reaition to the bottom of the boat ?
PS to hoome it may consern I wanted to put new gauge panels on for the new icon gauges and called every dealer in the southeast most seamed to think that I should buy a newer boat that you can get parts for . I live in StAugustine Fl. trust when I say it didnot use to be this way. But this morning I called Sue @ Twin cities marine ph#920 793 2715 she was so nice !!! she said left right how menney do you want. I may go north when I get old. And what are poll options ?

The consensus here is to mount the E-Tec all the way up.
Others have mounted it in the 3rd hole or 2 holes up.

Those guys are nuts telling you to buy a newer boat so you can get parts. They just want to sell boats.
Many parts are still available as you found out. If not, they can be made.

I have a used Instrument panel for sale that has 2 large holes in it for 2 Icon gauges.

Thanks joe you are right their nut's semes to me a coaman part but sue at twin cities took care of me . On another thought loist and hall's seem's to have gone out of biz. where would you go for cushion's now ? Thanks Ben

I just went through this process in August when my original engine failed; same boat, same power. My engine is mounted two holes up and I'm using the 13 1/4 x 15 pitch Stilletto Advantage propeller that has been widely recommended for this engine / hull combination on this site. As currently set up the engine will turn at 5,200 RPM at wide open throttle and 41 MPH using the GPS speed ap on my smartphone. I've driven the boat in varying conditions including 2 to 3 foot chop, flat water and some water skiing in the limited time I've had the new engine. (Picked up the repowered boat on Labor Day weekend.) There have been no issues with ventilation in turns or when running into or with the waves in choppy conditions. I'm satisfied with the performance of the current set up, maybe someone who is running this combination three holes up can chime in with their experience. Good luck with the repower.

Thankyou ursaminor I want to get it right the first time greatfull for all input I'am 57 have been on the water sense I was a baby have had more boats than girlfrends own 6 right now sail , power and row and know that I still can learn a lot and do . thanks ben out
