Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: boat trailer bunks and rollers

I have a galvanized trailer for my 13 footer and it's in good shape but the bunks could need replacement and I just painted the hull so thinking of replacing the guide rollers which are black rubber with non-marring urethane. For the bunks do most of you stay with the conventional 2x4 covered with indoor/outdoor carpet ? Or is there something else ? And any tips on the guide rollers ? Going on memory I think there are 3 total plus the bow bumper for the winch. Is anything other than black considered non-marring ? Any advice is appreciated.

I am slowly replacing my black rollers with the yellow polyurethane rollers that are non marring. I bought indoor/outdoor carpet from a big box store. It was 12 feet wide and they cut it twelve inches so I had long strips. My bunks are 2 by 6 inches. It was much cheaper this way and appeared to be the same as the packaged carpet strips at the marine store.

Stolz rollers are the only rollers to use, I have set my trailers up with starboard on top of the bunks, Better than carpet, I use 1inch thick and counter sink the screws/bolts into the wood bunks, does not mark the boat, boat comes right off, and never have to repair them...

So, you'd go with 2X6's then. Eastern Marine are good folks to deal with.

I went to West Marine today and bought three Stoltz center rollers but they didn't have one for the V shaped 2 inch bow stop so I just bought a rubber one. Replacing the bunks and side guide boards will be next.

First picture on my personal page.....with the boat on. Fourth picture with the boat off.....3 Stoltz keel rollers, 1 bow roller/stop and one keel roller way back Justin case the keel contacts the trailer at low tide.....or something.

Same here, plus the 2" roller has been great for powering up onto the trailer. My bow stop only allowed the boat to go so far before the boat would push the v out of position.
