Anyone out there familiar with Bear Trailers? I believe they're made in Missouri. I am looking at a used one locally for my 87 Montauk. Sounds like the guides are fixed and may be too narrow to accommodate my hull - could be a moot point...Just curious if anyone has any experience with these (or other trailer recommendations in the Midwest).

Thanks

I have no experience with Bear. Though if you are looking at the one on eBay, it looks to be built to fit for a relatively flat bottom Jon boat and since the bunks do not adjust I would be careful about expecting it to fit your Montauk.

Being in Michigan I would look at Eagle Trailers which are still made in Wyandott Michigan, as well as BoatWheels who is located in northern Ohio.

I have an Eagle Bunk Trailer under 17 Newport and it is the best trailer I have ever had under any of my 17' Whalers.

If you want to have a custom trailer done I would look into BoatWheels. They built us a fully custom trailer for our 23 WalkAround Whaler drive for about $4500. One for a 17 Whaler should be much less. They were good people to work with

Boat Wheels also often has good used trailers to fit your Montauk. They have a nice looking Magic Tilt available...

Finally, I know of Pirate Marine in Berlin Center Ohio who has a large inventory of trailers. I do not know of anyone who has bought from them but, they do have a very good 100% positive rating on eBay.
