I need to remove the manual trim cyclinder on my 1995 Evinrude. The top is held in with a pin but the bottom shaft has a bolt on both sides. Someone told me they are pressed in. Any advise?

I don't know for certain but from looking at the schematic they don't appear to be pressed in. I too need to remove that same pin and will have first hand knowledge in a few days.

Well I now have an answer, I just removed the manual tilt from my 1990 Evinrude 50hp. Both top and bottom pins originally slide in but this motor had some corrosion and the pins were seized. I used a torch, punch (close to 1/2in), penetrating lube and a 2lb hammer. Several long hours later I removed the top pin. I found cutting the head off (right side) and driving it to the left allowed me to get a straight shot at the pin. Driving it out this way, meant it had to be cut several times as it would come straight out as it would hit the trim sensor mounting area so a cut-off wheel was used to cut the pin in pieces.
The bottom pin was seized tighter than the top but I made short work of it using a saws-all and cutting oil. I just ground what was left behind flat with the transom bracket as I was not going to ever need those holes, I will be using the top hole due to angle of transom.
