I just picked up an old 6 horse Johnson for my Katama and it works well. It'll push it about 4.5 to 5 MPH measured on a GPS. I think that's the best it can get unless I move up in HP. Anybody have the same numbers? How about anyone with an 8 horse? I think there has to be a threshold limit for the hull until it gets on plane.

I have a 8 hp on my Katama and my 21 and it's plenty. The 21 will get 4-5 knots and the Katama a little more. Your 6 should be plenty.

I don't know the prop info but if it helps it's a johnson Sea Horse about 1973. I can take a pic if you think that will help.
