I've got appox. 30 gallons of gas with a little water in it stored in a 55-gallon drum. Any ideas on the best way to filter the water out and salvage the fuel? TIA

I also posted this question in several other forums and the feedback I've gotten is helpful but also has contained this caveat; if the fuel is older than 60-90 days, it should not be used. Others have said 6-12 months. The gas in question was pumped in November, making it over 6 months old. Since my Johnson 100 hp outboard is being rebuilt was we speak, I'm not going to risk any harm to it to save $100 worth of fuel. So now my question is; how do you dispose of 30 gallons of gasoline? Thanks.

Posted a "Free Gas" ad on craigslist and had 8 or 10 responses in half an hour. Problem solved.

I would have suggested using it in a lawnmower or chain saw but not sure if you have a lawn or any trees to trim.....
Glad someone was able to use it.

A little late I know but...
Water will settle to the bottom of a tank/barrel (whatever) of gas. You could have syphoned off most of the gas from the barrel, keeping the hose off the bottom, and used it in your car, truck, mower ect by mixing 50/50 with fresh gas at fill-up.
BTW. If you're not sure if gas has water you can pour some in a glass container. Set the container aside, undisturbed, for a few hours then check the bottom for water.
