One thing though, rednecks will always help another redneck out. Usually they don't have a clue either, but they always seem to git-er-done. What part of the South was this beach located?

I figured they were launching off the beach, went for a ride and didn't check the tides

Geo, good question. Are there any beaches that look like that on the Great Lakes?

Looks like salt water to me. You can tell by the way the water foams as it hits the sand when its spilling out of the doors. I see no palm trees in the background. It can't be Texas, those boys are too smart for that. It looks like the Gulf of Mexico though. Most places its pretty shallow near the shore. On second thought it might just be Texas. LOL

Doubt it's Texas Rich.......we take pride in our pickup trucks in this state....looks to be somewhere in the panhandle of Florida! Those 'ole rednecks will run their trucks anywhere.....

It may be somewhere around where I live, north of Tampa. You can walk a mile offshore and its only 4 feet deep.

nope, doubt its Texas. You get one good look at the SUV plate, and it's green, like a fla plate. Plus, both 4X4's don't have a front plate, which is required in Texas. Not to say it can't happen here, because i watched a guy back a jet ski into the surf with a 2 wheel drive pickup. He didn't come out solo either. I had a 4 X 4 but did not offer up, as i dang well wasn't backing my truck in the water, and he was way out there.

Wonder if any of them ever thought about getting a longer rope!

Now your're getting really high tech. Apparently those folks are not engineers.

What is notable is (1) a LOT of folks responded to a strangers problem regardless of how boneheaded it was, (2) they were willing to sacrifice their own possessions (cars/trucks) to help, (3) they made due with what was available to them and (4) they solved the problem.
I've been stranded a couple of times and have had strangers come to my aid without any question and have, in turn, helped a few folks out.
If I have any future problem I'd love to have that gang around. I know, in the end, everything would work out.

Bob Younger,
Great post! Hillbillies from Kentucky would do the same thing, but maybe, just maybe would have a long rope in their truck.

Didn't happen here on Long Island either. Can't help but think you Might Be A Red Neck If you bring your farm tractor to the beach... That's what's got me scratching my head...
Anyway I don't think it's the Outer Banks of North Carolina either BUT I do know it's not unheard of there to launch dories off trailers on the beach there when the fish are running in the late fall/early winter.

I've done a beach launch with my Whaler and would never even think of putting the tires of my tow vehicle in the water. Although that sand looks very firm! I love my tilt trailer and shallow draft of a Whaler!

Well said Bob, anyone willing to lend a hand is OK in my book...

i usually keep about 20 or 30 ft of rope in the back of my truck, and have made a lot of pulls out of the sand, and a few out of the water as long as i don't have to dunk my truck. We have a very gradual drop off here, and you can easily go out 50 feet or more with a decent height truck.
