I need some advice on prop selection for my 1978 V-20 Outrage with a 1994 Evinrude Ocean Pro 150 hp. I'm currently running a Turning Point Hustler 14.25x17 aluminum prop with the motor all the way up in the last set of holes. Performance-wise I get an excellent holeshot with no blowout in turns. The speed numbers are 40 mph @ 5100 rpm. Speed is on GPS.
My question is: should I go to a 15 pitch stainless prop and try to get my rpm a little higher or go with a 17 pitch stainless steel prop. Anyone with a V-20 with a 150hp please advise.

Thanks Guys,

Your rpm is too low. You want to be propped so your are right near maximum rpm with only one person aboard, so when you load the boat down you are not overloading the motor.

I wouud move down to a 15" SS prop like a Stilletto or SST. That boat is not going to be a hot rod with that motor anyways, so you just want a prop with good grip and all around steady characteristics

Thanks BobD for the input. I haven't decided quite what to do yet. I did consider a Stiletto 15 inch pitch but what I read on this site from Tom Clark is that those props may perform like a prop with 2 more inches of pitch and that would put me almost back where I am now.

Shoot Tom an email since he actually sells the Stilletto props. I would expect to still see some rpm increase, just maybe not as much as from some other brand 15" props.

You could also go down to a 14" diameter prop, which would also raise rpms
