Just put the 250 Yamaha OX66 on the new bracket on the back of the 22 Outrage. It is setback 30 inches. The bracket is custom, so the 2 or 3 hole reference is null.

My obvious choices are:
1. cavitation plate slightly below the extended line of the bottom of the keel.
2. cavitation plate 1 inch above the extended line of the bottom of the keel.

I'm opting for 2, is the the best spot to start?

Thanks, Mike

Mike,

That sounds good to me....

Just make sure that your telltale stream is flowing when you are on plane.
Certainly wouldn't want to burn up that new engine.

Don't know about on a whaler, but the cavitation plate was significantly higher than that on my old deep v hull with a 30 inch bracket That engine with a std 25 inch shaft was jacked all the way up on the bracket. Different bracket designs I am sure will have different settings. I would contact the bracket Manf. and ask for a recomendation.. The bracket will taper up from the hull as it goes back and so will the water flowing under the boat.
