Has anyone had a successful match in the Desert Tan color in a paint (vs. the Spectrum GelCoat)? I believe I have found a new C24 fuel tank local, but it is white vs. the Desert Tan, so I was thinking of painting it with a good marine exterior paint before installing it . Thanks.

I've not tried this method but I will be this summer.
There's a whaler owner in Port Huron MI that has had great success by taking his boat, or what ever gel-coated piece he wants to match, to an automotive painter or automotive paint supplier where they have some sort of electronic gizmo they can "shoot" the colour with then give you the make up so you can match the paint.
The reason for doing this our gel coat tends to fade and dis-colour with age so using Spectrum's "original" desert tan mix can be tough if you're working on an old whaler. And if you are like me and useless at matching colours it's a great idea. (I'm sure someone should declare me colour blind)
The fellow who suggested this has renovated / refurbished a fair number of old Whalers and they have all come out looking excellent.

Right now I could use one these "gizmos" in my house I'm trying to paint and renovate.
