I have a 1966 13' and when I hit a big wave and my front seat broke in half.
Anyone have suggestions on the type of wood I should use for the replacement? I'd like to use something strong so it doesn't happen again. Maybe I should try to reinforce it.
Also, I probably need stain and I don't know what the original color would be.
Does anyone have suggestions on stain and varnish?
Thanks in advance guys. :D

Mahogany...Honduran if you can afford it, Phillipine if you can't...
It offers the best water resistance going...which is why they used it.
I personally wouldn't stain it...with 5-10 coats of Spar Varnish, it'll darken up nicely after a few seasons of Whalering!
