I've removed the console and the wood for refinishing this winter from a family 1980 11ft Sport and upon taking apart the steering I notice all the pulleys, including the two housings (searches have indicated a better word for housing may be "coaming") that direct the cable into the console, are stamped with the Wilcox Crittendon logo. I'd planned to simply chuck everything and replace but since they're original WC I'd like to use them.

The only fixing up most need is replacing the plastic pulley wheels. Unfortunately the axles of the pulleys do not seem removable and are permanent with no nuts and screws to undo.

Does anyone have any suggestions to get them apart? Or just cut the axle with a hack saw and replace with a stainless bolt and nut of some sort? If so, is there a particular type of nut and bolt to use.

BTW. The two housings are not only WC they appear to be marinium as well which WC used all over our classic Whalers back in the day. Another good reason to make good use of them.
