I've been mulling over the placement of a water/fuel separator for some time now...I pulled the over off the Outrage the other day and just looked at the configuration...In one box I have the battery and the other the oil tank...the easiest place would be under the engine near the stenciled numbers but I'm concerned with getting water in the splashwell...if I'm being overly caution, I'll just mount it there...if there is cause for concern...what options do I have?

Thanks for the input...

Dave,
I had a piece of 316 stainless cut to 2" wide with a 90 degree angle at each end to raise it 2" off the transom. I mounted this bracket to the top engine bolts. I took off the washers and used the 3/16" stainless bracket in their place. I drilled two holes in the center of the bracket and used 2 - 5/16" stainless bolts to mount the filter to the bracket in the well. I'm not concerned about water on the filter or fuel lines. I did not want to drill more holes in the transom to mount anything.
You just need to plan, drill and mount so that your engine can tilt up without hitting the filter. I have an 84 Montauk 17 and this seems to work fine.
Yes, I have pictures and I'm lazy and selfish by not posting them. I will make an effort tonight and post the pictures.
