What are the best options for mounting a kicker on an 18 Outrage?
I have a kicker which hasn't been on the boat, but I would like it to be. The transom thickens and becomes to thick where the left screw clamp is to allow the kicker to be far enough away from the main motor, so the main motor will be able to make a full turn.
Should I get a kicker mount? Or what?

You don't need a kicker bracket on an Outrage 18.

I owned a 1983 Outrage 18 with a 150 HP Johnson which is wider than a 150 Mercury. I had four different kickers on that boat and they all clamped directly to the transom as they should without any interference at all.

The two requirements are:

- The kicker must be a 20" shaft length.

- You need to remove the port stern eye; relocate it between the main motor and the kicker if you like, that is what I did.

Excellent idea! Thanks.

I was wondering about that exact direction, but I am still going to have to do something with the motor clamp on the left or outboard side.

The motor mount bracket doesn't have enough depth for the transom as it increases in thickness, even with the eye taken away.

The motor shaft length is perfect.

The Honda 8 must be unusually fat.

I used a Johnson 9.9, a Johnson 15, a Yamaha 8 two stroke and an Evinrude 8 Four Stroke on my Outrage 18 and all them fit the transom just fine after being slid as far to Port as the transom thickening allowed. I know my Johnson 150 with a 90 degree block was significantly wider than your Mercury 150 with its small 2.0 liter V-60 block so I had even less available transom to deal with.

Have you already removed the stern eye and placed the Honda on the transom? If not, you might be surprised.

Thanks Tom,

I have not removed the eye as of yet. Yes I have placed the motor next to the 150 a few times. I will remove the eye and give that a good college try.
I figured that if needed I would remove the screw clamp from the port side bracket and it would allow another few inches. Still considering options, since double shifts at work are limiting my boat time.

Thanks Joe, I am not exactly sure how to use the information you provided, how ever I will spend some time completing a site search this evening sometime. Thanks again.
