Hi,

I just finished replacing the water pump on my engine. Something I noticed is that there is a short black hose next to the gear case shaft that doesn't seem to go to any particular place. When re-installing the lower unit to the top unit, the hose pinched and about an inch of it tore off. Is this something I should be concerned about? It didn't seem to serve any particular purpose.

Sounds like that might be a speedometer connection.
Do you have a speedometer on your instrument panel?

Ahh got it. Yes i do. It wasn't connected I don't believe when I pulled off the lower unit. Is this connection something I can easily replace? Ultimately it would be nice to see what I'm moving at.
