Went out yesterday for a crabbing trip with some buds from work. Boat ran AWESOME all day, until...we were in some back bay/mud ditches. Got into some shallow water. Got oout ok, but I then noticed the problem. Motor turning up the rpms, but no power. The prop/engine did not ground, so I don't think I spun the hub in the prop. Water pressure gauge shows fine. Any suggestions?

As a side note, I took pics of my cover and frame, will post them later for those who wanted them.

Check all your linkage and shiftshaft forward and backward to make sure it's going in gear.

What i have seen once on a friends boat was loss of power equaled a burnt piston. it would rev up in nutral but would not put the boat on plane. a simple compression check will rule this out for you. I hope you find something simple.

I've spun a prop hub without hitting anything. When I pulled the boat out of the water, I couldn't spin the prop by hand however when under load the prop wouldn't take the pressure. I had the prop re-hubbed and it worked fine from then on out.

You need to explain what this means. It could be interrupted any number of ways. Could you be more explicit?

The motor is in gear but the boat does not move?

The boat moves but not very much?

The boat moves, just not quite as fast as before?

You can rev the motor in neutral (which has nothing to do with power) but not in gear?

The propeller is turning? Not turning?

Sorry. I can push it up to full throttle, get the rpms and the boat speeds up, but then slows while maintaining the same rpm.

Ah, you just wrapped something around the gearcase when you were in shallow water and its causing the propeller to ventilate and loose grip.

That happens all the time to me here on Puget Sound. You pick up some seaweed or a stick or piece of driftwood and the prop looses all it grip and the engine races.

Either that, or you've spun the prop.

When you inspected the propeller and gearcase, what did you find?
