I placed an order on the Specialty Marine web site last week. I got e-mail confirmation of the order. Didn't hear anything back with regard to them shipping, so I e-mailed them this morning. The e-mail bounced. I went to their web site (http://specialtymarine.com/) and got the following message:

Store Suspended

This store is currently not available due to a billing problem. If you are the store owner, please login to your administrative console and read the messages section on how to resolve this or contact our customer service team.

Anyone know what's going on with them?

Maybe they need to renew they're domain.

Give them a call, they use a 3rd party to run their store, such as Amazon and there are issues.

I don't see anything wrong with Specialty Marine's site either.

Well in blacksmithsdog's defense, it was not working at the time of posting and it's great that it's working now.

In defense of all websites on the Internet.... Including WhalerCentral.com

Servers do go down from time to time.
Apparently Specialty Marine's site was down this morning.
Their email address also shows it is on the same address name server. In this case, their email will also show as non existent and bounce back to the sender. This happens because the server cannot be found.

Their website appears to be back up and running but not sure about their email server as they may be different even though they have the same specialtymarine.com address.

I guess I could have said more but didn't think it was that important.

Yes, there are many ways a site can go down.
Not paying the bill on time is one of them.
Also, if you change providers, it can take up to 24 or 72 hours for the new DNS to propagate around the country (or world) so the site is down during that time.

I have also seen some parts of the Internet Backbones or main Trunks go down a couple of times in the last 20 years.... This is very remote but have seen both the East Coast backbone and the West Coast backbone go down at different times. During this period everything was working fine on the West Coast but not the East Coast and visa versa.....

Stuff Happens.......

We live in an instant society. When we don't get what we expect, disappointment follows. What makes it worse is, the ability to instantly share our disappointment with a lot of others.

Hi All,

Just to clear this up, our ISP had an expired card on file, we were not aware of this, and it resulted in our site being down for a few hours. Everything is now back up and running!

Also, we are running a 'web-only' sale until Sep. 30th - receive 10% off on all web orders. This discount does not apply to phone orders. Enter in coupon code whalercentral (all lower case, all one word - no spaces) at checkout. Enjoy!

Sounds like a good time to get those replacement bow lights for your Classic Outrage. I have a set on my 25 and am very happy.

Eric,

Seeing this great discount sparked us to finally purchase a new set of cushions for our Outrage 18. Thanks for the great deal! Now all you need to do is offer your stainless bimini tops for Outrages as well as Montauks!

Sorry for the hi-jack, btw.
