Need to re-power my 25ft Whaler CC with Whaler Drive. Need some advice on how much HP to run. Thinking about the 300hp Suzuki, but need more information on performance specs. MPG, Top Speed, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Any 250-300 HP outboard made today will be great on an Outrage 25 Whaler Drive. Who is your nearest and most supportive dealer? What brand of outboard do they sell?

Should be good for 45-50 MPH and 3 MPG or more.

The Evinrude eTecs are nice, burn clean, quick and great warranty.
Extended warranty added as an end of the season deal going on now.

I have a 24 outrage with twin 150hps mercs. Time to repower. After much research and chats with whaler dealer boating friends and my mechanic finally narrowed it down to either single 300hp etec or F300 yamaha 4 stroke. Then you get into preferences betweeen 2 stroke and 4 stroke, hole shot etc.
Just put a deposit down on new yamaha 300hp F300 v6. It is at factory in Japan and will be delivered and installed in January. I will post photos on the repower work and performance of new engine in January.
Good luck with your repower. I would be interested to hear your reults

outhaul: If you are on an island in the middle of the Atlantic, I think this would be a no brainer.... for once I would recommend twins for your boat, It your one engine does not start you could float off to Greenland before you are found....

I'm also a proud new ower of a 88 CC, non cuddy, no bottom paint ever, 25 with Whaler Drive, and i would never consider anything less then twins if you plan on going offshore. A. they can handle up to 450 HP, i have twin 200 Yams. B, if one quits, i can do up to at least 25 MPH, and maybe up to 30. Don't know for sure yet, as i wasn't ready to check out the ball joints on the linkage to tilt one up, with the other down, till i attempt on dry land with an assistent, to check out the stress factor. Yes, its twice the maintenance, but are you going canal cruising, or going offshore? Even with 300 hp, (Boston Whaler 25 with Whater Drive is allowed up to 450 HP) you are seriously underpowered for the rated horsepower designated back in the 80's when i'm sure the motors were a hell of lot heavier. Got a rare and great boat there, don't cut yourself short by going with a single! First time it quits (and it is a motor hello), you will wish you had a twin to finish the ride home and nobody will even know the difference to the end of you outing.
