Just like y'all said the kicker mounted right on the transom - very pleased to have the extra dependability.

I'll have to look into one of the kicker steering kits - the motor fits pretty well. If I leave the 8hp a bit to port the clearance is fine - aimed straight the main touches on hard over. Next task today will be to move the second battery across to even out the weight. Going to put a SS carriage bolt where the lifting eye went.
Since this boat is new to us, anyone have a ballpark guestimate for gph with an 1987 Evinrude 150?

I would guess the boat would get 4 nautical miles per gallon at 20-25 knots and that kicker would get at least 5 nautical miles per gallon at 3/4 throttle. Just a guess from someone with a slightly heavier boat.
