What would cause a Throttle Fault and Ignition Fault to show up and alarm on the SmartCraft Guages?

Engine type 2000 225HP Mercury Optimax.

Thanks Phil T!, this explains a whole bunch. Especially since the Alarm clears after resetting the throttle position.

The boat and motor is 11 years old and just needs some TLC.
