I recently bought a 1984 Montauk 17 and the lower louvered door is missing--and the frame is not in great shape. The upper side door is nothing to brag about, either.

Could anyone provide a source for teak doors (and frames)?

Many marine stores sell the individual teak pieces to make a door top, bottom, sides and slats, and the frame.

Mike's replicas (Nautical Lumber) appear accurate, well made and reasonably priced given the evident quality.

I'll explore some marine suppliers for market components though my searches so far have not turned up anything useful. I'd like to learn of more, and would welcome any suggestions or leads?

After searching, I'll decide whether to take on the project myself, or order from Mike.

Just my opinion Mark. I am a cabinetmaker with all the tools and skills to make these items from scratch as long as I have a pattern to work from. Here is where many of us make a big mistake in these projects. We are making one piece at a time, setting and resetting our tools for every cut and we can make the item in a DIY well equipped shop.

It will take us three times as long and probably cost just as much as a shop like Nautical Lumber is charging. They already have the patterns and probably make a dozen or more at a time thereby substantially cutting the the set up and build time to a fraction. When you consider the tools you will need, all of them, Saws, Routers and bits, Planer, sanders, clamps and jigs and all the time to get it all together you will probably find it is cheaper in the long run to just order it ready made to fit your boat.

I love doing it myself but I have to cut my losses at times and just buy the part when there is a suitable manufacturer.
