On my personal page should be a picture of an old Shaefer mount attached to the side of the console. Can not find it in their current catalog, is it for fishing (outrigger)? Slight flare open at the top of the tube, no threads inside.

Ready to buy a radio and a GAM antenna, but don't know if I can/should use this or buy a ratchet mount for the base extention.

Thanks.

Yes, that is an outrigger base, not an antenna mount.

Just use a ratchet mount.

Thanks Tom, a lot of screw holes to fill when it comes off.

Some times the best way to fill a hole is with a pan head screw. You think they would stick out like a sore thumb but people hardly notice a screw out of place. Except for people like us. The group who pours over everything both whaler and other, that has to do with boats. Its a sickness I have.

That would be a lot of screws, must be some other use for it. Bud vase? Too narrow for a cup holder, does make for a nice hand hold. I will have to see what size plastic pipe fits in there and save the $30 or so for a Shake antenna base.

Just cut a fire extinguisher pocket into the console there and loose most of those screw holes. Use the remaining holes for the new ratchet mount.

That is a great idea, thanks Tom.
