The one I removed from my Outrage 22 looked like a fairly simple installation. Of course, the worst part of the installation is actually pushing the drill into your boat. I believe there are four connection points at the transom.
Here is a picture, albeit not a very good one, of the platform on the boat.

I have this swim platform listed in the classified section with links to specific pictures.

Hello Doug
One of the most memorable (dont remember who) repair posts Ive read/learned is to drill any hole thru transom plywood a size over then seal the exposed wood with resin or marinetex.
Then redrill it to size & use calk.
This prevents water from getting to the plywood.
Ive got a teak swim platform around here somewhere. I think it has hinges that allow it to fold up but no steps.
Came off a late 70's I/O 24 ft Searay & could be modified.

My swim platform as a heavy duty bracket that is mounted into the wood of the transom on my Outrage 18. There is no wood on the sides of the transom where the hand rail is but seems to be solid enough.
The bracket holds the weight and makes this platform very sturdy. I even stand on this sometimes when the water is smooth.
I did not install this as it was on the boat when I bought it so I have no idea where to get this bracket. Whoever did it did a good job.
