Hello all

I have a huge oak tree in front of my house,it drops leaves in the spring, .....among other things go figure,well.... i left it uncovered one night and these little brown things had stained my deck on my outrage... never seen anything like it. I have tried several cleaners, even simple green full strength.

Any suggestions on gel-coat safe stain remover cleaners ?

This ... after i just refinished all the wood work .... Arrrrrrrrggggh !

JVZ,

I have several black walnut trees in my yard. The squirrels love to eat the walnuts on any perch and my boats seem to be among their favorite dining spots. The husks from the walnuts leave terrible black ink-like stains on any surface - boats, cement, etc... you name it.

The most effective cleaner I have found for this problem is Bar Keepers Friend. It contains Oxalic Acid, which can cause mild irritation to skin (personal experience), and a detergent. It's a powder and comes in a dispenser similar to an Ajax or Comet can. But it DOES NOT contain abrasives. I believe it is also available in a liquid, but I haven't used it in this form, just the powder.

I clean the area first, then make a fairly liquid paste with the powder and some water. Then apply the paste and wait a little while, scrub and repeat if necessary.
