Hello, I need some help again.......
I need to put the power wires and transducer cable for my radio, gps and compass through the console top for connections and routing to the stern. There were several holes drilled through which I closed up. This was a mess and must have allowed any water on the console top down into the compartment. I have a stainless part for this type of application by seachoice but its a 3/8" opening which is to small. I guess I could use a 90 degree 3/4" through hull to get wire / cables through and keep water out.
How have you all done this ?

I'm getting close to my first voyage. Thanks again for all your help !

Which console are you mounting the equipment on? Standard or Super Console?

Thanks for your reply.
I have an 84 Montauk with a standard console.

There are wire seals that will keep the rain out or try some wire grommets. Run the wire thru them and then seal them with either clear or black caulk. On my t-top they used a clam shell to cover the holes and then filled it with clear caulk once all the wires had been pulled. Worked fine.

Pete,

I used these little white pucks made by Big John and they work great. They allow you to run the cables up through the console and then 90 out. They used to come with a rubber gasket but I used a bit of 4200 to seal them up.

Edited for correct manufacture..see below

Yeah to what Kamie and Jeff said.

My brother in law has Super Console that had a near vertical surface that cables were installed through. The clam shell looks like it does a pretty good job in that situation.

Thanks All, The info is great.

Jeff, Those are real good for this application. I cant find them on the net. I'll keep trying. I have a couple weeks till its warm enough for boating.

Soon I'll explode if I dont get to use this boat I put so much time, effort, heart and money into.

Pete,

I am sorry they were not Johnny Ray but Big John. I finally remembered who makes them when I drove by Interlochen on my way home today. You can find these in any marine hardware store or bait shop around here in as they are made in Michigan. They Come in Single and Double wire pulls and in both Black and White.

I am not sure if they are a common stocked item in other geo's though . I know you can order them online however, if you need them quick let me know and I can see what I can do.

BTW The image I had posted above was a product West Marine makes however I like the Big John product much better.

Sorry for the run around.
