I just bought a 13ft, 1970 SS. Needs good restoration. Hull & transom in good shape. My question to all: I have a mostly brand NEW Honda 15HP Four Stroke. Is this going to be enough motor for this boat?

There is no such thing as a 1970 Super Sport. The Super Sport 13 was not introduced until 1984.

What do you want to do with the boat? If you just want to putt around lakes and rivers, maybe fish a bit, the 15 will be fine. If you want to maybe pull your kids on a tube, or up on skis, you probably want to go with a 40. I have a 25 4 stroke Merc on mine, I love it.

It depends on what you are planning to do or how your are going to use the boat.

It is rated for a 40hp. I have a 25hp and I would not want anyting smaller for my use: pleasure riding, pulling an inflatable, fishing,...

If you don't need much speed or power the 15 will push the boat with no problem as long as your not loaded down and that the hull is not water logged.

Also look on the left side of this page under Photo Gallery and click on 'Whaler Models and Info' to see what your boat compares to. You may also compare your Stencil number located in the bow locker or on the inside of the transom and cpmpare those numbers with the Stencil Number info here on this site. (Correct Year model and style helps everyone know exactly what you have and will inprove the answers you get to your questions.) GOOD LUCK and HAPPY WHALERING
