I wanted to share some of my experiences on the trip thus far with you all. First off, for those just tuning in, you can follow all of the action on www.onlyinamerica.biz and be sure to check out some of the latest photos that are posted on the Facebook page.

Let me first introduce myself. My name is Daniel Zick, I am 28 and from Annapolis, Maryland. I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and love to spend lots of time with my wife Katherine and our 3 year old yellow lab Savannah on our 17’ Boston Whaler on the Magothy River.
I joined up with the guys at Tilghman Island on their way up to Annapolis from Solomons Sunday afternoon by boat. We just made it into port at the Annapolis Yacht Club right before the storm hit and had a nice dinner at the Boatyard Bar & Grill in Eastport where we all had a chance to catch up. The OIA crew is staying in Annapolis for three nights at the Marriott Waterfront.

The storm that had passed through Sunday night finally broke the heat wave here and the weather for the next several days looks promising.

Yesterday, some of the OIA crew went sightseeing around town and toured the U.S. Naval Academy. Later on, John and the guys gave a great seminar on long voyages in small boats at the West Marine store in Annapolis. In the evening, my wife and I along with the OIA crew went out to dinner at a pub called Sly Fox where they had trivia and half-price bottles of wine. Marty rocked the John Hughes films category. Unfortunately we did not win at trivia, but a good time was had by all.

Today, I believe the OIA crew has as interview with the local newspaper followed by a telecom with Microsoft this afternoon in front of the U.S. Naval Academy. As for the film crew, Greg and Matt will be interviewing my grandfather Rev. Elmer Zick about his life and perspective of how the Country has changed over the years. This evening, my wife and I will be joining some of the crew in waterskiing and wakeboarding. It has been a pleasure so far meeting all of the OIA crew and I look forward to joining them in the run up to Philadelphia.

The plan for tomorrow is to leave Annapolis sometime in the morning and head up the Chesapeake Bay to the Elk River and spend the night at my in-law's river house, just North of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal. Then, head out towards Philadelphia through the C&D canal the following day.
