Hey guys new to the site and in the process of restoring a '67 13' hull. The guy I bought it from had plans to restore it, but ran out of time and money. It came with completely rebuilt 80's 50hp evenrude and I just want so see if anyone thinks that this will be to heavy of a motor? I think that it will be ok, the guy was a mechanic who has redone boats before and I don't think he would have redone this motor for this boat if he thought it was to heavy.
Thanks,
Sam

Many 80's 13' whaler had the OMC 40hp motor which weighs the same as the 50. Is the 50hp, a short shaft (15")? I am not sure if I have even one of those motors with a 15" shaft. If not are you planning on using an adapter on the transom to accommodate it.

You shouldn't have a problem using it.

It is a 15" short shaft.
Thanks guys, I think it work and really make the whaler move down the water.

fwiw, I just hung a 98' 50hp Johnson 20" shaft on my late 60's 13 last month and got some small stress cracks in both corners of the transom. I found another owner with the same hull that had the same issue. We both had some aluminum pipe fabricated with pads on both ends which we bolted to the transom and then to the splash guard to stiffen up the transom. His has been fine like that for a couple of years, I have not got my motor running to really test it. Bottom line, you may or may not have an issue. As far as weight is concerned, it should be fine
