Hey guys, I am finally reinstalling my motor and controls, etc. hoping for a checkout cruise early next week. My old controls did not have a trim switch so I swapped the arm off of another set of controls but it did not occur to me to check the plugs, which are not compatible with my motor (old red style plug). When I contacted the local Johnson dealer, they quoted me $210 for a wiring harness set that would make it work but that is way more than I am looking to spend. My thoughts were that either there could be an adapter for just the tilt trim or I could just install a dash mount switch and run directly to motor, bypassing the arm switch altogether. Can anyone direct me how to do this? The moter is a 1994 Johnson 48 spl. I am super excited to be putting one more old whaler back in the water. This forum has been extremely instrumental along the way. Thanks!
